Dueling Duos at Diamond Ridge

Taylormade Fourball/Foursomes Series #1

Baltimore, MD, May 16th, 2022  — We were back at Diamond Ridge this weekend for the 2nd year in a row. A little twist came in this years event at the course with BJGT holding its first ever Fourball/Foursomes tournament in the regular season. We had some great comradery and a ton of fun doing a different style event and the teams played great!

Round 1 – Saturday, May 14th — It’s looking like it is going to finally stay nice weather for the foreseeable future as we dive into Spring.

In Round 1 at the tournament, we played Fourball. Which is where you and your partner both get to play the hole and take the best score between you two versus the other team’s best score. It was a surprising hole that was the most difficult for our players in Round 1, the Par-3, 12th-hole. The team of Max Houck from Crofton, Maryland and Mac Arida from Gambrills, Maryland said they really struggled with this hole. These two buddies that go to the same high school made for a great pairing but even after winning both of their matches during the weekend this tough hole stuck with them. The only teams that were able to Par the hole was team Twodor featuring brothers Aidan and Landon Tudor from Mount Airy, Maryland and Team Bomb’s featuring good friend Nathan Eldridge from Owings Mills, Maryland and Nolan Vogel from Towson, Maryland. Always good to have a partner on tough holes like #12! The teams absolutely smashed Hole #9 the entire weekend. This hole played below a Birdie average in Round 1 and even featured a pair of Eagles from Team Twodor and Team Bomb’s. 3 Teams named this the easiest hole on the course with Nolan Vogel and Aidan Tudor both earning their team’s Eagle’s and Team Lion made up of Leo Zelaya from Derwood, Maryland and Parker Bopst from Hampstead, Maryland Birdieing it in both Rounds. Well done on dominating Hole-9 everyone!

Round 2 – Sunday, May15th – What a great day for some team golf!

In Round 2 we played Foursomes. You alternate shots with you and your partner and take your score verses the team you are playing against. Hole-14 was the toughest hole for the Teams in Round 2. A 509-yard wonky Par-5, the hole was playing to above a Bogey Average. A rough showing from Team Infinity made up of Noah Segui from Gaithersburg, Maryland and Shiv Bhaskar from Falls Church, Virginia inevitable sunk them in their match against Team MaCx made up of Mac Arida and Max Houck. No one was able to Par this beast of Hole in Round 2. Once again, Hole-9 was giving up great scores left and right in Round 2. A couple of highlights from this weekend’s tournament. Team Twodor and Team MaCx were able to go undefeated in the tournament winning both their matches. It was an impressive showing by Team Twodor was a deadly combination using Aidan’s long range ability and Landon’s great short game they were able to lead the tournament in Birdies (6) and Par Breakers (7). Team Bomb’s were extremely consistent throughout the event with two skill sets who matched each other great Nolan and Nathan went on a Bogey Free Streak of 9 Holes to start the event.

Thank you to all of our players and parents for joining us in our first ever Fourball/Foursomes tournament in the regular season. With a great sponsor like TaylorMade golf being able to hand out golf balls to all of our players at the tournament and having their name represented with the tournament made this event even more fun. Team golf is a lot of fun and great practice for our end of the year Buckeye Cup tournament at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, West Virginia. Remember the Buckeye Cup is invite only and by playing in Match Play tournaments like these you are almost guaranteed an invite to our most fun tournament of the year! We have another Fourball/Foursomes tournament coming up at South Hills Golf Club in Hanover, Pennsylvania in Mid-June that we hope everyone will join us for.
